MicroLogic and SmartEquip Integrate Fleet management and Product Support Systems

Westborough, MA and Norwalk, CT — February 8, 2005 — MicroLogic, a leading provider of wireless equipment management solutions to the Rental and Construction industries, and SmartEquip, the leader in electronic parts and service support systems connecting fleet operators and manufacturers, are integrating their iSite® and e-FleetPro® industry solutions.

MicroLogic’s iSite® is an integrated fleet management system that collects on board information and transmits the exact location, run hours and key operating metrics of rental and service fleet equipment in near real time. iSite monitors equipment usage and provides maintenance notification to increase asset utilization and revenue.

e-FleetPro® - Powered by SmartEquip™ - provides a single source for parts and service support, including intelligent electronic parts catalogs, easily accessed operator manuals, troubleshooting guides, safety notices, and equipment specifications. It also includes online ordering and tracking capabilities for parts purchased electronically, integrated both with manufacturers’ business systems and with leading rental management systems, such as Wynne Systems’ RentalMan®.

The combined system delivers a one of a kind connection between the rental fleet owner, the equipment, and the manufacturer, resulting in improved fleet uptime and rental revenue, reduced maintenance costs through electronic preventative maintenance scheduling, and increased equipment life. Information gathered by onboard sensors can notify service managers of maintenance or repair requirement and trigger a service work order, while also displaying local, regional, and national parts availability at the rental company and at the manufacturer. The system also links the purchase order system of the rental company with the order fulfillment system of the manufacturer, resulting in a point to point, streamlined maintenance, service, and parts purchasing pipeline.

“Our vision has always centered around the notion of “ERM” – Equipment Relationship Man agement – where the machine “raises its hand” – or in this case “raises its antenna” – to report operating conditions, engine hours, fuel consumed, over speeds or any other significant event,” said Alex Schuessler, SmartEquip CEO and president. “Using this information to trigger maintenance and service transactions, check parts availability and order electronically, all as part of a seamless workflow creates a ‘virtual handshake’ between the equipment, its owner and the manufacturer – dramatically reducing the fleet owner’s cost of ownership and increasing utilization and revenue. It instantly makes each asset ‘Smart’.”

“MicroLogic’s iSite® solution follows in the tradition of other highly successful products we have engineered and built, such as LoJack,” added Michael Fix, MicroLogic’s executive vice president of business development and strategy. “They all share a common thread – using wire-less technology for improving business performance and asset protection. Our technology partnership with SmartEquip extends the most comprehensive lifecycle management system for construction equipment manufacturers and rental fleet owners available anywhere.”

The common e-FleetPro/iSite interface will initially be offered to MicroLogic and SmartEquip customers using Wynne Systems RentalMan, and then expanded to other rental and fleet management systems.
