AEDNews Exclusive: SmartEquip Launches Intuitive Online Configuration Tool

Multiquip Inc. first to use SmartEquip SE Wholegoods Module

NORWALK, CT (Nov. 19, 2007) - SmartEquip is pleased to announce that Multiquip Inc., one of the world's leading manufacturers and distributors of light- and medium-sized equipment for construction professionals worldwide, has launched SE Wholegoods, an intuitive on-line product configuration and ordering module for Multiquip's end users. Multiquip is the first OEM to use this new application.
Powered by SmartEquip, SE Wholegoods streamlines the ordering process and empowers end-users to configure and purchase Multiquip products with multiple options and accessories directly on the Multiquip web site at www.multiquip.com.
SE Wholegoods is the latest technology SmartEquip has developed to drive speed and accuracy and ultimately lower operating costs for all of its network participants - equipment fleet owners, dealers and manufacturers alike.
Using a configuration methodology that shows the mandatory option choices for the base model and available accessories, the system provides numerous options to the end-user who wishes to customize the configuration of Multiquip equipment to their preferences. This flexible online ordering environment eliminates time-consuming service department interaction for end-users and is able to save configurations online for future reorders, a great feature for fleet owners who may order 100 or more of the same model/accessory combination over the course of a year.
The module's sophisticated system of checks and balances uses a "business rules" approach to whole goods configuration. "SE Wholegoods simplifies a complex process and puts the power to evaluate, select and choose in the hands of the customer," said Alexander Schuessler, chairman and chief executive officer of SmartEquip.

Multiquip has deployed three SmartEquip modules: SE Wholegoods, SE Parts & Service - linked to Multiquip's SAP business system - and SE Warranty. Using SmartEquip technology, Multiquip customers can now order whole goods, intelligently identify and order service parts, find technical information for all Multiquip products and submit warranty claims electronically. Taken together, these SmartEquip applications deliver an exceptional user experience for all Multiquip customers.
"We've been a big believer in SmartEquip's capabilities for years now," said Roger Euliss, Multiquip president. "They have helped Multiquip use technology to address real customer needs that impact their bottom line. SE Wholegoods is a great example of that."
